Check out our awesome, new Make-Up classes!
Have you missed a lesson and are looking for our Master classes? They have been upgraded! Check it out!
This past summer was one for the books! Schedule changes were never in short supply and with many things moving to an online format, one thing that changed shape in a big way over summer for Colorado Springs Music School was our Master Class system. We want to say thank you to all who gave feedback about how our Master Class system has been serving you. As a result of your feedback, we would like to present an UPGRADED version of this service!
Master Classes used to be a way that students could make up their lessons when they had to miss one or two. Each teacher would have a set time of the week when they would teach a concept that was specific to their strength, or a foundational class in their specific instrument. When someone missed a lesson, they could pick a Master Class based on the class topic, the teacher, or the schedule. These classes would not get to more than three or four students in a class, so that there could still be personal attention, but also interaction with other students. We now have an UPGRADED system called the Music Theory Make-Up Class!
Instead of each Master class focusing on an instrument, specific topic, or teacher, we have simplified the process. Throughout each month, we will be offering a Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Music Theory Classes that students can sign up for to make-up any lessons they missed this past summer, or might miss throughout the school year. These classes will be capped at three students, to keep that personal attention. They will not be instrument specific either, so it'll be easier to find a class that works for you! Here are some examples of what each class has to offer:
The Beginning Music Theory class will introduce and strengthen concepts like Counting Rhythms, Note Names and Patterns, Do Re Mi’s, as well as an introduction to Hand-and-Foot Independence. This is a great class for younger students who are just starting out! If you are an adult or teen, who is concerned about being in a beginning class with young kids, you will mostly likely be guided to choose the Intermediate Class. The teacher of the intermediate class knows how to help you with what you are working on, while teaching other students who may have a bit more experience with music theory.
The Intermediate Music Theory class will introduce and strengthen concepts like Playing with Other Musicians, Basic Key Structure, Steady Rhythms with a Metronome, as well as Writing Simple Songs. This is a great class for students who are already doing well with understanding certain music theory concepts, but don’t feel like it all “makes total sense” just yet. If you are a younger student or parent of a younger student, who is considering an intermediate class, but is nervous being around teens and adults, you are more than welcome to choose the Beginner Class. The teacher of this class will be able to be flexible with your level of understanding.
The Advanced Music Theory class will introduce and strengthen concepts like Counting More Complicated Rhythms in Sheet Music, Playing in Advanced keys, Playing with more Experienced Musicians, and Writing Multi-Dimensional Music. Anyone who joins this class is welcome to also ask questions and fill in holes that they feel they might have in their music theory knowledge.
